Located in Boardman Township, Ohio, the Southwoods Surgical Hospital North Building Addition expands the hospital’s capacity for advanced patient care and modern surgical services. The project replaces an existing parking lot with a new 14,000-square-foot addition—partially one-story and partially two-story—integrated seamlessly with the existing ambulatory surgery and hospital facilities.

The expansion includes new treatment and recovery areas, support spaces, and modernized infrastructure to accommodate both ambulatory and inpatient services. Designed under current Ohio Building Code standards, the addition incorporates IIB and IIA construction types, full fire suppression, and enhanced life-safety systems consistent with hospital and surgical occupancy classifications. The project prioritizes efficient patient flow, increased staff workspace, and the latest in building systems technology to support Southwoods’ growing healthcare operations.

Civil improvements include reconfigured site utilities, stormwater management using existing detention infrastructure, and upgraded access and landscaping features. The design minimizes impervious area by introducing new green space, while maintaining the hospital’s operational continuity throughout construction. The result is a thoughtful, patient-focused expansion that strengthens Southwoods’ commitment to providing exceptional regional healthcare in a state-of-the-art environment.
